Tapestries Lakeland

Student Artist

Florida Southern College

Annabel Leonova

I consider myself a mixed media artist. As a Graphic Design major, I’m focusing on creating digital designs and illustrations but it, for sure, doesn’t stop me from creating the so-called “traditional” art. Last semester I got to explore oil paint for the first time and fell in love along with acrylics that have been my long time favorite. One of the less common art creating process I’m working in is printmaking. Intaglio and relief printing are something I’m deeply passionate about and consider a big part of who I’m as an artist. As of subject matter, I’ve been focusing on still life and drawing using multiple references. It’s something I’m still exploring to gain a better understanding of the world around me. Also, after my Public Art History class, this “type” of art gained my interest.

Title:  “Your Lakeland”

Size:  69″ X 65″

Inspiration:

Lakeland itself is one of my biggest sources of inspiration with its remarkable history, beautiful surrounding and variety of events. So, this’s what I was to incorporate into my work. Easily recognizable but still visually pleasing concept to engage the viewers and awoke “oh, I know this place” feeling.
